All electronic products must have USB-C charging connectors starting in 2025, according to Saudi Arabia.

USB-C charging ports

All electronic gadgets must have USB-C charging connectors, according to a rule that Saudi Arabia issued. The first phase is scheduled to start on January 1st, 2025. The goal, according to government officials, is to enhance user experience while lowering expenses and e-waste and enabling high-quality data transmissions.

The Communications, Space, and Technology Commission and the Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization made the decision. Mobile phones and other electronic equipment, such as keyboards, speakers, routers, and headphones, are included in the first stage.

Beginning on April 1, 2026, there will be a second phase that will affect laptops and other portable devices.

Consumers will save SAR 170 million (about $45 million) and use 2.2 million fewer chargers annually, according to the organizations.
