Announcing Xiaomi’s first 200MP phone, The Xiaomi 12T Pro

In the second half of every year, Xiaomi practices releasing the T-series family of smartphones, the Xiaomi 12T Pro and Xiaomi 12T, which frequently have top specs and large batteries. Once more, the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro have recently been unveiled by the firm.

The two phones share a number of features, including a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED screen (2,712 x 1,220, Gorilla Glass 5), an in-display fingerprint sensor, a 5,000mAh battery, 120W charging using a charger that comes with the phone, dual speakers, and MIUI 13 on top of Android 12. (no Android 13 here yet).

As its name suggests, the 12T Pro is the more expensive option available here. Its main camera (Isocell HP1, with OIS), which makes it Xiaomi’s first 200MP phone, is its highlight feature. Xiaomi claims that the 2x “in-sensor” zoom feature, which uses a super high-resolution sensor, is best for portrait shots. For better light collection, the sensor can also do pixel-binning, which merges data from 16 nearby pixels into a single 2.56-micron pixel.

Sadly, anyone hoping for secondary cameras with equal intrigue will be let down. Here, you have an 8MP ultrawide camera with a 120-degree field of view and a 2MP macro sensor. A 20MP camera is in charge of taking selfies.

The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 CPU powers the Xiaomi 12T Pro in all other respects. This shouldn’t be shocking considering that many high-end phones introduced in the second half of the year include Qualcomm’s most recent Plus chip. The new CPU should still outperform the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 standard in terms of efficiency and sustained performance. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 are two other outstanding characteristics.

The Xiaomi 12T is also not a slouch in its basic form. However, it replaces the 200MP primary camera with a 108MP Isocell HM6 primary camera. The 108MP sensor seen on devices like the Galaxy S22 Ultra has smaller sensors with smaller pixels than this one. However, thanks to nona-binning technology, the Xiaomi 12T can merge the data from nine nearby pixels into one, producing images with pixels that are 1.92 microns across.

The Xiaomi 12T Pro’s 8MP ultrawide camera and 2MP macro sensor combo are all you get in terms of other features. Located in a punch-hole cutout up front is a 20MP camera.

The Mediatek Dimensity 8100-Ultra processor is used in place of the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC in Xiaomi’s standard phone. For the most part, there is undoubtedly a reduction in features and horsepower, but the chipset still performs on par with earlier Snapdragon flagship CPUs.
