The full specification sheet for the next Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, about which we’ve been hearing a lot, has finally surfaced, confirming the arrival of significant modifications. Samsung has redesigned the device’s layout; although certain functionality will remain the same, the user experience may alter significantly.
First, let’s talk about size. The phone grew a millimeter in width and length, as seen in the chart below, but these dimensions don’t really reflect how different the two screens’ aspect ratios are. The phone feels more like a regular bar phone when folded, which is why it’s vital that it’s lighter and thinner.
Dimensions | Galaxy Z Fold5 | Galaxy Z Fold6 | ||
---|---|---|---|---|
Folded | Unfolded | Folded | Unfolded | |
Height | 154.9mm | 154.9mm | 153.5mm | 153.5mm |
Width | 67.1mm | 129.9mm | 68.1mm | 132.6mm |
Thickness | 13.4mm | 6.1mm | 12.1mm | 5.6mm |
Weight | 253g | 239g |
The cover display will have a 6.3″ panel with a new resolution of 968 x 2,376 pixels, or 22.1:9 aspect ratio as opposed to the previous model’s larger 23.1:9. It appears to be a 120Hz LTPS panel anyway.
The internal display has also undergone changes; the 7.6″ diagonal now has a resolution of 1,856 x 2,160 pixels rather than 1,812 x 2,176 pixels. The aspect ratio has been adjusted to 10.5:9, which is somewhat more square than the 10.8:9 of the previous year’s Fold. This display is likewise non-LTPO at 120 Hz.
He disclosed specifications. don’t specifically identify the chipset (an uncommon move for Samsung), but the octa-core CPU indicates that this is a Snapdragon rather than an Exynos, which boasts a 10-core CPU. The storage is 512GB, while the RAM is still just 12GB as stated.
There aren’t many more modifications in the spec sheet. The 4,400mAh battery in the Galaxy Z Fold6 is the same as before. Although the charging speed is not stated, we don’t anticipate any significant changes in this area. USB 3.2 Gen 1 is linked to the USB-C connector. There is also Wi-Fi 6 (ax), Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and UWB connections. And, naturally, 5G.
And lastly, the cameras. A 50MP primary (f/1.8, OIS, 8K @ 30 frames per second video), a 10MP 3x telephoto (also with OIS), and a 12MP ultra-wide (120°) lens make up the back trio. Two selfie cameras are present: a 10MP one on the cover display and a 4MP one beneath the internal main display. As stated otherwise, the camera configuration is nearly identical to that of the Z Fold5.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, as we learned a few days ago, will cost $100 more than its predecessor (at least in the US; other territories should see a comparable price increase). A few weeks before the Olympics, during the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, an official announcement will be made
