There is simply no better device than Macs and MacBooks for screen capturing. Taking a snapshot of the entire screen or just a portion of it is now quite simple thanks to Apple. A screenshotter’s dream come true with MacBooks if you’re used to Windows and the irksome Snipper Tool. It will take some time to learn a few essential shortcuts, but once you do, you’ll be taking screenshots nonstop.
Press Shift + Command + 3 to snap a screenshot of your Mac. This will capture your whole workspace as a screenshot. A snapshot preview will then appear in the lower right corner of the screen. To read the preview, click on it. Then, to update it, click the small edit button (it looks like a marker) in the upper right corner. This allows you to annotate the image more or crop it.
To capture a snapshot of a specific area of your screen, use the shortcut Shift + Command + 4. Your cursor will become a crosshair as a result. After that, select the area of the screen you want to capture by clicking and dragging it, then release the mouse button when the selection is accurate. You can modify the image once more to make it perfect if you aren’t quite satisfied. Press Shift + Command + 5 to display the entire screen capping toolbar.
Easy enough, huh? Anything you take a snapshot of will probably end up on your desktop by default. You may either pick them up directly from your desktop or open Finder and choose Desktop from the menu on the left. Press Shift + Command + 5 and choose options to adjust the final location of the screenshots. You can choose any folder you want to send your screenshots to.
