Huawei already has a couple of devices it sells that use its own operating system instead of Android. And they are both available in the U.S., on sale as a matter of fact. We are talking about the Huawei Watch GT and Huawei Watch GT Classic. Spotted by Android Police, the two smartwatches are available for $169.99 and $199.99 respectively from various retailers. That is a $30 discount on both wearables on a percentage basis, the sale takes 15% off of the GT and 13% off the GT Classic.
Both watches sport the same specs. They carry a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 454 x 454 and can monitor your heartbeat, track your physical activities like swimming, cycling, hiking, and running, and the built-in GPS will keep track of your route. The devices do something that the Apple Watch doesn’t-they track your sleep. Once you pair the Huawei GT or GT Classic with your iOS or Android phone, you can receive notifications, alarms, and reminders. The pair use Huawei’s Lite OS and feature Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity.
The battery will last for two weeks with the heart rate monitor on, and with 90 minutes of exercise each week. If you receive messages and calls, the battery will last for two weeks with the heart rate monitor disabled. With continuous exercise tracking, GPS and the heart rate monitor both on, the battery will last for 22 hours. The watches are both water resistant to 164 feet.
The only difference between the two is the design. The Huawei GT is a sports watch while the GT Classic has a more traditional appearance. The former is on sale at B&H Photo in Graphite Black while the latter is available from Amazon and Newegg in Brown.
