According to dependable Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple is getting ready to potentially replace its “Pro Max” iPhone with an all-new “Ultra” iPhone 15 model next year.
Gurman claimed in his most recent Power On email that Apple is considering a name change, USB-C, and a new design for the iPhone 15 Ultra. Gurman speculates that “Ultra” could take the place of Apple’s “Pro Max” moniker, which it began using with the iPhone 11.
Based on Apple’s current pattern, we can expect a revamped iPhone design next year, coinciding with a shift to USB-C and the potential of a new Ultra model replacing the Pro Max.
The switch to “Ultra” branding for the most expensive iPhone would be consistent with other recent naming choices made by Apple. The most extreme and tough Apple Watch to date is called the Apple Watch Ultra, and the M1 Ultra is the company’s most potent silicon chip yet.
Given that the iPhone 15 is still a year away, specific information is still somewhat lacking. However, it is commonly anticipated that Apple will switch to USB-C for the iPhones of the following year. The hole-punch and pill-shaped cuts, first seen on the iPhone 14 Pro, reportedly trickled down to all iPhone 15 models, according to speculations.
