The Samsung Galaxy S23 anticipated release date is getting closer, and we can’t wait to see what features the S22 successor will include. The Galaxy S23 line of smartphones ought to be available around early 2023.

The Galaxy S23 is already the subject of a regular stream of rumors, some of which mention a large new rear camera system that might significantly improve Samsung’s photographic skills.

The new Galaxy S23 smartphones are expected to be unveiled by Samsung at one of its Unpacked launch events, most likely in February 2023 as that will be one year after the Galaxy S22 debuted.

Despite much rumor, the Galaxy S23’s release date has not been confirmed, and it’s probable that it will debut in January. After all, Samsung won’t want the iPhone 14 to take over the news cycle for too long.

Whatever the release date, assuming Samsung follows to the same timeline as 2022, we can anticipate that pre-orders for the S23 will open soon after the announcement and that the devices will go on sale at the end of February.

Again, there is no concrete information available in advance on the cost. What we can tell you is that the normal Galaxy S22 phone started at £769 or $799, so anticipate something in a range along those lines.

The number of Galaxy S23 family members is unknown, but based on how Samsung typically handles its flagship device, we can make an educated approximation.

As a result, we anticipate the Galaxy S23 will come in three different versions: the S23, the S23 Plus, and the S23 Ultra. An FE, or Fan Edition, version of the phone with more modest specs and a lower price would then be anticipated in years past. At the moment, it’s unclear whether the Galaxy S23 series will color-wise closely resemble the Galaxy S22 series. We had the color possibilities of black, white, pink gold, green, graphite, sky blue, violet, cream, red, and purple in 2022, and we would anticipate some variation in 2023 at the very least.

People in the know have complied with photographs of the Galaxy S23 case, which is always a good clue of the potential design direction that a phone may take. These images give us the impression that future smartphones will have straighter sides and cleaner camera modules than the S22 series.

Graphic designer 4RMD(opens in new tab) has provided us to some concept films of the S23 and S23 Plus phones; these clips are based on the leaks and rumors we’ve seen so far, and we think they might be fairly close to what Samsung actually announces in 2023.

Like the S22 Ultra before it, the S23 Ultra is anticipated to maintain the same design while also supporting styluses. Specifications

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 unveiled in mid-November 2022 appears to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor that will be included in every Galaxy S23 variant in every area.

Samsung will use Qualcomm CPUs for the time being as it appears to be having trouble getting the Exynos CPU variation up to scratch. Normally, select devices in certain countries receive a Samsung Exynos processor, as was the case with the Samsung Galaxy S22.

At the same time, it’s important to keep in mind that the Galaxy S22 series was also said to use purely Snapdragon CPUs, but that ultimately didn’t happen.

We’ll have to wait and see how that might translate to the more expensive variants, but based on those leaked specifications, it doesn’t seem like much will change. The regular Galaxy S23 model appears to feature storage options of 128GB or 256GB and 8GB of RAM. The Galaxy S23 phones are rumored to perform worse than the iPhone 14 in terms of raw performance, but given what the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip is capable of, I’m not sure this will actually be the case.

The most likely scenario for the crucial battery capacity is that it will remain largely same from last year; nevertheless, Samsung may be able to extend battery life with optimizations. Batteries for the Galaxy S23 have been observed passing through regulators, although the capacities have not yet been verified.

Cameras

One significant rumor is that Samsung will equip at least one of its S23 phones with a sizable 200-megapixel sensor as part of the system for the rear camera. That would indicate a significant improvement in image and video quality.

More details on the Samsung ISOCELL HP3 sensor, which has been optimized to work best with Qualcomm’s platform, were revealed at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit, strongly indicating that this will be the first (or one of the first) to include the enormous sensor. This sensor, in our opinion, will only be offered on the Galaxy S23 Ultra top model.

A resolution of this size would be a significant improvement above the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra’s 108-megapixel capability and is also significantly larger than the 48-megapixel primary sensor installed on the back of the iPhone 14 Pro.

According to rumors, the selfie cameras on the front of the Galaxy S23 series are also due for an upgrade, moving from 10MP to 12MP.

Additional Information

The Galaxy S23 phones are almost certainly going to ship with Android 13: At that point, Google’s most recent mobile operating system will already be a few months old, and Samsung often does a decent job of keeping its devices up to date. In terms of Android, it’s one of Google’s closest partners.

We also know that the S23 is internally referred to as Project Diamond, which is another piece of knowledge. Initially thought to be a brand-new foldable smartphone, supply chain researcher Ross Young tweeted on March 24 that the moniker now refers to the Galaxy S23. The S23 won’t, he continued on Twitter, have a different design from the S22.

When the next flagship phone is released, we also anticipate other enhancements like a waterfall display with curved edges on at least one of the models and updated UFS 4.0 internal storage, which should make the phones even faster.

The Features We Want

Here’s a quick glance at what we want to see from the new Galaxy S23 smartphone family while we wait for further rumors to circulate. We continue to be extremely demanding of the manufacturers we deal with; setting high standards is always worthwhile.

Design: The last two generations of Galaxy S phones have undergone relatively little change, so we’d love to see Samsung come up with a brand-new look. We’re not holding our breath, though, given what has been reported about the S23 in the rumor mill so far. Instead, given the enormous new camera sensor anticipated for the device, we anticipate Samsung to repurpose the S23’s back camera module and highlight its photographic talents.

Colors: A wider selection of colors would also be appreciated, and there has already been talk that Samsung might revolutionize this field. The impact of a fresh color scheme is more than you may imagine.

Battery: As always, we would love to see Samsung make the S23 handsets a little bit thicker than their S22 forerunners to facilitate improved battery life. We believe Samsung made a mistake by reducing battery capacities when the S21 was replaced by the S22, and we hope this will be fixed with the upcoming model. Here, better cooling may also be beneficial, and once more, we wouldn’t mind if this resulted in a slightly thicker handset.

Interface: We also urge Samsung to make improvements to the speed of its One UI interface. In a perfect world, we’d want to see a Galaxy S23 running stock Android, but since that’s extremely unlikely to happen, we’d prefer if Samsung improved its user interface, removed any performance hiccups, and made the phone seem as smooth and quick as a flagship should.
