Xiaomi Elevates Smartphone Photography To a New Level, Xiaomi 12S Ultra

With its most recent innovation, Xiaomi elevates smartphone photography to a new level. One of the top smartphone cameras now on the market is included in the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. The primary camera on more costly smartphones like the Galaxy S22 Ultra and the iPhone 14 Pro is easily outperformed by its 50MP Sony IMX989 camera. What can Xiaomi do, then, to improve the situation even more? Evidently, mounting a full-frame camera lens on its back is the solution.

In order to accommodate the Leica M-series of camera lenses, Xiaomi has changed the ring surrounding the camera module on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. The concept smartphone, created in collaboration with Leica, has not one, but two 1-inch sensors. Its camera module is protected by sapphire glass that won’t crack when suitable lenses are mounted or removed.

Regarding the concept smartphone’s camera configuration, Xiaomi hasn’t provided any other information. A brief video displaying the device, however, shows that the compatible lens has an adjustable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/16. The video shows verify a few new software capabilities, such as focus peaking, zebra lines, a histogram, and support for 10-bit RAW image capture, that will help users make the most of the enhanced technology (via Android Authority). The future inclusion of this technology in smartphone production is not yet confirmed by Xiaomi. But we sincerely hope it is. Additionally, the business hasn’t shown any images taken with the Xiaomi 12S Ultra prototype. We’re hoping to get a chance to use the product firsthand and are looking forward to seeing it in action.

If smartphones supported interchangeable lenses, would you purchase one? Or do you believe it to be a bit excessive? Comment below with your thoughts and let us know.
