You can use portable SSDs for more than simply backups, This is why everyone should have one

Portable SSDs
Portable solid-state drives

Portable solid-state drives are fantastic; they’re still portable and offer a lot of storage and faster speeds than USB flash drives. They are frequently used by people to backup their PCs using backup software.

But backups aren’t the only use for portable SSDs. There are several excellent reasons to keep a small, portable SSD on hand, even if you prefer to use online backup software and don’t intend to back anything up to a physical drive. (Our preferred suggestion?) At the top of our list of the finest external drives is the Crucial X9 Pro. Here are some very helpful applications to think about.

To transfer media files (such as music, movies, and pictures) from your PC to your home media center, a portable SSD is a great and practically flawless solution. Compared to wireless transfer, it is much faster!

For instance, you may use the Roku Media Player app to browse images, play music, and watch videos directly from a portable SSD that you connect to a USB port on your Roku TV or streaming box. That’s only one possibility for one streaming platform; chances are your preferred game console or streaming device has a USB port, and if it does, it probably has a media player app.

Smaller USB flash drives are frequently used for this, but a portable SSD may be a better choice because it usually offers significantly more storage space and can be a wonderful addition to your media center. The best of both worlds are combined in an SSD like the surprisingly reasonably priced SK Hynix Tube T31, which offers excellent SSD performance in a form factor that closely resembles a flash drive.

In summary, it’s an incredibly easy method of transferring media files from your computer to your television. Setting up a network server using Plex or a similar program and leaving it running on a different device is not necessary. All you have to do is plug the drive in and copy some files across.

Consider capacity when purchasing a portable SSD for use in a media center. While having the quickest speeds is good because those media files will copy over much more quickly, you don’t need them only to watch videos. To hold it all, you mostly need a lot of storage space. Additionally, if you purchase a USB-C portable SSD, you will require a USB-C-to-USB-A connector because the majority of streaming devices have larger USB-A ports.
